Whenever a person has been severely injured, ill, or unresponsive, medical personnel look for signs of life. If there are none, the person is pronounced dead. Once a person is declared dead, no one expects them to behave like a living person. Most people who consider themselves “religious” are convinced they must earn God’s approval and salvation by doing good works. Anyone who believes that does not understand the major problem with such a religious philosophy. That is, the impossibility of dead people being able to do anything! Anyone who has not been born again is considered to be spiritually dead.

Ephesians 2:1-10

We were dead in sin, but now we are alive in Christ!

We were walking with Satan, but now we walk in step with the holy spirit.

We were sons and daughters of the disobedient one, but now we are sons and daughters of the Most High God.

We were once living under condemnation, but now we have experienced justification.

We were not saved by works, but now we can do good works!
